Kristofer led me out of the Big House and we walked down the beach towards a group of cabins I could see in the distance. How much do you know about Greek mythology? What kind of question was that? I thought. Just the stuff we studied in school last year. I found it boring because I didn't believe any of it. I said. What would you say if I told you it was all real? Kristofer said.

I'd say you're crazy. I said. Kristofer looked as if he was gonna protest but, I put my hand over his mouth and said, But, with your bracelet, that creature that chased me and, all the weird battle stuff that goes on here, I might listen. I took my hand off his mouth and looked at me awestruck. Oh... Um...... Wow.....That was easy. Well.... What was the most common thing the gods did then? He said. Easy. They came down to Earth and fell in love with mortals and had kids. Demigods. I said. Demigods seemed to be the magic word. And we are? Kristofer said. Demigods? I guessed. Kristofer nodded. No way. All I am is a trouble-magnet kid with dyslexia and ADHD. I said. I can explain that. Dyslexia because your mind is hard-wired for Ancient Greek, not English. ANd the ADHD is your battle instincts. It will keep you alive in a fight. Kristofer said. For whatever reason, I believed him.

So... That means one of our parents is mortal and the other is a god, right? I asked. Kristofer nodded. So, who's your god? I asked. Zeus. Kristofer shrugged. No way. I said and gave him a gentle nudge. Ugh Yes way. He said. He pushed me like it was meet to be light but he caught me off balance and I went tumbling into the water. My arm scraped on a rock and I could feel it gash open my skin. I screamed even thought I was underwater and, like usual, it sounded completely normal to me. That's when I realized I could stand where I was. I stood up and Kristofer was staring at me wide eyed. No he was staring above my head. The centaur next to him was staring at my wrist. It must be a bad cut. I thought. In the reflection of the water I could see what Kristofer was staring at. A glowing green trident had appeared above my head. I looked down at my wrist. Where I should hyave been badly cut, a black trident had appeared. It looked liek at tattoo that'd been there forever. But it hadn't been. Wh-What just happened? I managed to stutter out. The only answer I got was Kristofer. He said, Poseidon.
